Place a check next to Allow Remote Connections to this computer in the Remote Assistance section. This policy setting allows you to specify which protocols can be used for Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) access to this server. If you enable this policy setting you must specify if you would like RDP to use UDP.You can select one of the following options: 'Use both UDP and TCP (default)' 'Use only TCP' or 'Use either UDP or TCP' If you select 'Use either UDP or TCP' and the UDP.

Windows 7 / Getting Started

RD Session Host Configuration is used to set Remote Control settings on a per-server basis. On a server, open RD Session Host Configuration, double-click the RDP-Tcp connection, and then click the Remote Control tab.

There are two ways to enable remote control.

  • Enable remote control and specify whether user permissions are required to shadowthe user session and the level of control (view only or interact) permitted when shadowing the session.
  • Enable remote control and use the Remote Control settings set in each user's accountproperties to specify whether shadowing that user's session is allowed, whether theuser's permission is required, and the level of control (view only or interact) permitted when shadowing the session.

You can disable remote control of user sessions created on the server by choosing Do Not Allow Remote Control.

By default, only administrators have the right to shadow sessions. To give another user oruser group permissions to shadow sessions, follow these steps.

Hi,
On server 2008 R2 I could install remote desktop session host then navigate to Administrative Tools > Remote Desktop > Remote Desktop Host Session Configuration. Then I would right click on RDP-tcp then click the tab 'logon settings'. This would allow me to put in the domain name.
What I am trying to achieve is that when a user is trying to log into this server they dont have to type in 'DOMAINusername' they just type the username and password. Below the input fields it shows the FQDN.
Hope that makes sense and someone can answer me?
Thanks

I am trying to make the changes on a Server 2012 R2 machine. Currently in order to change the settings I go to Start -> Run -> gpedit.msc
